Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive procedure using an instrument designed specifically for the treatment. The dermaplane tool is held at an angle to the skin to gently “scrape” away the outer layer of skin. This process removes all vellus hair and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin.
Discontinue use of Retin-A or other exfoliating topical Rx for 3 days prior to treatment. Terminal hair can be removed through tweezing prior to dermaplaning treatment.

While Dermaplaning is gentle, we avoid it on pregnant clients to prevent any potential for post-treatment complications. If there is an adverse incident, a pregnant client may be limited in which antibiotics or treatments would be prescribed. Because of this, we do not recommend Dermaplaning for pregnant and/or breastfeeding clients. We do offer plenty of pregnancy-safe facial alternatives, though! All you have to do is consult with your physician prior to your appointment and communicate with your ST who can help you find the best options.
Dermaplaning can be safely performed every 4 weeks in conjunction with their routine facial appointment.
We’re so excited to be your first facial! You don’t need to do too much to prepare. During the few days beforehand, don’t do any heavy exfoliation, peels, waxing, or other procedures. While we don’t use steamers, beware that any false lashes or microbladed eyebrows can be affected by a facial. For those with a beard or other facial hair, try not to shave three days leading up to your facial. The only other thing to do is just be open and honest with your Skin Therapist about what treatments you’ve done, what your goals are, and what products you use at home. There is no shame in any answer and your honesty helps us craft the best treatment for you.
One facial can get great results, but where you can really see (and feel) a huge difference is with regular treatments. We recommend getting facials once a month as on average, skin cells turn over about every 28 days.
We currently offer five different enhancements; LED light therapy, Gua Sha, chemical peels ($50 each), as well as diamond tip microdermabrasion and microcurrent ($80 each). Enhancements are 50% off for our members! You can chat with your Skin Therapist about these to determine which is right for you. Please note, enhancements do not add additional time for your service. Not all enhancements are available at all shops; please contact your local shop for more details. See more about our enhancement options here, and aftercare for peels and microdermabrasion here.
Children have delicate skin that’s in a constant state of growth and flux. To keep young skin safe, we don’t perform facials on anyone 14 years old or under, and recommend seeing a dermatologist for any serious skin issues. Anyone between the ages of 15 and 17 will need a parent or guardian to fill out and sign an intake form, either online before the appointment or in-person at your local Heyday. The parent or guardian does not need to stay for the duration of the facial.
We kindly ask that you arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled treatment time to check in. But we know life happens sometimes. If you’re running late, please give us a heads up by calling the location you’re booked at. We’ll do our best to accommodate you within 10 minutes of your appointment time, by fitting you in for a shorter treatment. However, after 10 minutes, we will unfortunately not be able to start your service and you will incur a $25 cancellation fee.
This helps build a profile for your Skin Therapist to reference before and during your treatment. You can fill it out online before your session or when you arrive for your appointment.
We recommend rescheduling your facial if you have had Botox, fillers, chemical peels, or a skin procedure such as microneedling, microblading, dermaplaning, laser resurfacing, or laser hair removal within 2 weeks prior to your appointment. During the few days beforehand, don’t do any heavy exfoliation, peels, waxing, or other procedures. While we don’t use steamers, beware that any false lashes or microbladed eyebrows can be affected by a facial.
